Why Join our Neuropathy Awareness Day Celebration?

Peripheral neuropathy affects millions, yet too many people suffer in silence because symptoms are misunderstood or dismissed. A Neuropathy Awareness Day celebration turns that isolation into connection—and connection into action.

What's in it for you?

People participate because Awareness Day offers real, personal value—not just a “good cause.” Here’s why attendees say awareness matters:

  • Get answers sooner. Learning the early warning signs helps you (or someone you love) recognize symptoms and seek help before nerve damage becomes permanent.

  • Feel seen and supported. Many describe relief at finally being in a room where others “get it.” That reduces stigma and loneliness, and builds confidence to advocate for better care.

  • Learn practical tools. Sessions often cover self-management strategies, symptom tracking, pain-management strategies, and how to talk to your doctor so you leave with a plan, not just pamphlets.

  • Influence change. When communities, clinicians, and policymakers show up together, it pushes for improved training, regular screening in high‑risk groups, and more research funding. We all benefite from that.

  • Connect to resources. Meet Calgary’s local support groups and learn about it and other organizations that can guide you through diagnosis, treatment, and daily living.

Why this matters now?

Up to 80% of patients report delays or misdiagnosis, which can allow preventable complications to develop. Awareness events help close that gap by educating the public and encouraging at‑risk groups to get screened regularly. They also amplify patient voices so leaders understand neuropathy as a serious neurological condition that deserves attention, compassion, and resources.

When more people understand neuropathy, diagnosis gets faster,

care gets better, and no one has to be in this alone.

What can you do to help?

  • Share personal stories: Describe your neuropathy journey to day, your coping strategies, experiences and frustrations.  Submiting them to Info@CalgaryNeuropathy.com.  Personal accounts help others feel less isolated and can guide new individuals.
